Designed for students and aspiring professionals in the dance field
Seize the opportunity to examine contemporary dance from six/seven distinct perspectives. Discover new
performance techniques, and explore diverse methodologies with some of the best internationally-recognized
companies, artists and teachers. Meet the artists, gain new insights, and watch the magic explode on stage. All
programs are free and open to the public. Advance registration is required to participate. Observers are
welcome, space permitting. The master class series is in conjunction with the respective company’s performance
engagement on the Dance Celebration Series. |

Taught by company member Abby Silva featured in May 2007’s Dance Magazine Recommended for Intermediate/Advanced dancers
The popular Parsons’ style is known worldwide for its speed, strength, humor, high-spirited
athleticism and movement invention. This contemporary class includes a Parsons warm-up
followed by across the floor and center floor combinations to live percussion. Participants will
also learn choreographed phrases from the company’s touring repertory.

Sharing a unique and expressive vision for teaching, the company has a strong following amongst
dancers and professionals and is a favorite at dance festivals and colleges. The company’s work
in dance, theater, opera, film and fashion explores an eclectic blend of contemporary, ballet, tap,
acting and voice. Participants will experience Varone’s emotional range, kinetic breath and
fluidity in this technique class to live piano featuring repertory selections.

Lubovitch creates works for Broadway, stage, screen and Olympic ice-skaters. This modern dance
class will examine Lubovitch’s luscious, breezy and physically-driven movement vocabulary to
live piano accompaniment and may include phrases from his American masterpiece “Concerto
Six Twenty-Two ” and other works.

This class examines the earthy stylings of celebrated European master choreographer Nacho
Duato. Maintaining a classical format, the class begins with barre work, followed by center floor
phrases and challenging combinations that move with ease and lush musicality to live piano
accompaniment. Participants can experience the training practiced daily by this extraordinary
company.
